St. Michaels - A Charming Weekend Getaway
October 6th, 2007 Categories: Area Attractions, Northern Virginia Real Estate Dirt
I must admit, I rarely take a day off – maybe one here or there, but generally I’m at it 7 days a week – just ask my family! This week, I had a rare treat! A very close family friend built a home there on the water a few years ago and literally, for 3 years we’ve been trying to get a date on the calendar for me to head out to visit. I can’t believe it took 3 years, but this Thursday/Friday, the calendar cleared and out we went. Here are some great photos from the quaint town just on the other side of the Bay Bridge.

A quaint row of very old (but restored) homes.

This is the St. Michaels Gazebo

Right outside the Maritime Museum

A great shed

Another great shed – right next door to the red shed above

This is the Hooper Strait Lighthouse which was relocated here to the St. Michaels Maritime Museum

So after a day and a half with my feet up - I’m back to work!
There are many homes listed for sale there, too. If you’d like information on any of them, let me know and I will get you in touch with an excellent, local resource.
I hope you enjoyed my brief photo tour of St. Michaels. We’re so fortunate here in the Washington DC area to have such great getaways less than 2 hours away! Maybe if I ever get another few days of R&R, I’ll show you some others!
Happy Saturday
Jennifer

And I must say, you have a lovely pedicure! Glad you were able to get away and go see a fabulous area and share it with all of us. I love the homes.

Take more days off. Life is too short to work every day no matter how much you enjoy it. Nice town, great pictures too.
I can see how blogging, fun as it is, only adds to the 24/7 aspect of this profession! Still I am countering all this by making a “Stop Doing List” , so as I add new activities I weed out others so as to try to have some time to smell the roses. Your photos are very professional looking. Love the design of your new blog.
Thanks for your comments, Hilary! 24/7 - yes indeed! I’m not sure that I’m ready for a stop doing list - but I do think we need to do a better job recognizing natural ebbs and flows in our business and take advantage of them without guilt! THAT I’ll try to do better in 2008!
Thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer- It was so nice to “meet” you the other day… I love your new site! (Hopefully I just got you to #6!)
I loved the pics on this post- looks like a GREAT weekend getaway.
Teresa was talking about your beautiful pedicure and I had to come check it out for myself. I have to tell you that I absolutely love that photo….the contrast of the pink and red with the green lawn is beautiful - now to read your blog.
Now that looks like a calm charming neighborhood. I could use a getaway like that right around now!
Well I know I’m a stranger but we share the same colleagues
I was reading Teresa Boardman’s blog at the Real Estate Weenie and she said I have to comment on your pedicure! lol. (Don’t worry, I don’t notice any chip).
Read ya later!
